Agnestad churchruin |
|
The old Västgöta lawbook says
( roughly ) : |
|
Sigfrid was the first bishop that came here.
He came from England, and he marked out three places where there should
be built churches, and consecrated three churchyards. One is in Friggeråker,
the second in
Gerum and the third is in Agnestad. Then he went to Småland, where he
got killed. And in Växjö his bones are resting..... |

This is the ruin of a later church, though - 12th century. It was once the smallest round church in Sweden. Under it, they found traces of an older church, probably made out of wood, and its churchyard. |
