Elder futhark

This is probably the last update this year, and that is of course due to the Covid-19 pandemic, that has stopped me from travelling abroad to see more rune stones. OK - there are quite a few places to visit here in Norway also, but they are quite far away from where I live + I haven't really felt like spending days to capture only a dozen of them.

In this update I will put together all the rune stones carved with the elder futhark, that already appear on this site. These are just the rune stones, and not elder futhark runes that were carved on objects, or that appear on the gold bracteates.

The first rune stone in the left frame contain all the runes that make up the elder futhark - from f to o. About half of the stones in this selection are from Sweden, and the rest of them are from Norway.

There have been some recent finds of rune stones with the elder futhark, like the Hogganvik rune stone, and the Rakkestad rune stone.

Oh, and then there are the American rune stones that also contain elder futhark runes + the Kensington Rune Stone, which contain a mix of both, with an addition of some runes that had never been seen before. These stones have opened up the historical interest of tens of thousands, but unfortunatly most of these people are sceptical to what runologists, linguists, or any other expert in this particular area of knowledge, have to say about their authenticity.
