This is the best preserved Stone Age village in northern Europe. It's situated on the Bay of Skaill on Orkney mainland, and it's one of the Heart of Neolithic Orkney-sites, along with the Stenness-monuments. Read more about Skara Brae here. |

It was occupied from roughly 3180 BC to about 2500 BC, but there are two houses on Orkney that are older than that : Knap of Howar on Papa Westray. Bottom left are two photos of items that were found in the village. Stone Age art ?
