When the glacier of the Ice Age withdrew, it stopped here for about 1000 years because the climat got colder again. It created these small lakes and the hillocks in the area. Axvalla hed ( heath ) used to be the second biggest military drill-ground in Sweden ( after Ljungby hed in the province of Småland ). Unfortunatly they removed ( blew to pieces actually ) five passage graves from the heath, to give the soldiers more space to practice.... At Husgärdet, between Axvall and Varnhem are the ruins of Axvalla house - a medieval stronghold. In Norra Lundby there is a rune stone.
