Tree-of-life-stones |

It is not clear how old these stones are.
Generally they are considered to be from the 12th century, but they could
be older - a small amout of the stones have runes on them, but those inscriptions
could be secondary.... The design indicates eastern influences - from
the East Roman Empire ! Perhaps homecoming Varangians from Constantinople
in the 9th-10th century brought the ideas ? |
